Description

The lodge, now functioning as a house, is located at the southwest entrance to Glynn House and dates from around 1830, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from slatestone rubble, featuring granite quoins and brick dressings. The hipped slate roof is adorned with ridge tiles and has a large axial stack with four diagonal brick shafts.

The building has a two-room layout, with each room heated by back-to-back fireplaces from the axial stack. The road-facing side includes a polygonal bay and a 20th-century porch attached to the front. There is also a later 19th-century addition on the right side, which has a one-room plan in a polygonal bay. At the rear, there are two small 20th-century lean-tos.

The front wall encloses the garden, which has a gateway. The lodge is a single storey and was originally designed with a symmetrical front. The central polygonal bay features two-light casements, both with polygonal leaded glazing and cambered brick arches, along with a central half-glazed door that is now hidden behind the 20th-century porch. Each side has a blind wall; the left side has a similar two-light casement, while the right side includes an end polygonal bay with three sides, a central half-glazed door, and similar two-light casements on either side. The garden is enclosed by a rubble wall with granite coping, and the railings on the wall have principal stanchions with urn finials and four plain rails. There are also a pair of gate piers, about one metre high, with a square plan and pyramidal caps, along with a railing gate set off-centre to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
