Description
No. 18 College Green is a house that was originally part of a larger dwelling, which included No. 17 College Green. This building dates from the 17th century or earlier and was remodeled in the 18th century, with 20th-century additions and alterations. It features a timber frame with brick that is covered in stucco, and an 18th-century brick wing. The roof is slate with hipped dormers and has a central lateral ridge stack. The house is a single-depth range located on the west side of the former wall that separated the lay and monastic cemeteries, with a wing added to the front on the right.
The exterior consists of two storeys and an attic, along with a single-storey wing. At the front, where it meets the wing on the right, there is an entrance porch with a lean-to roof. To the left of the porch, there is a large sash window with glazing bars arranged in a 6x5 pane configuration, and closely set to the left is a pair of sashes with glazing bars in a 4x3 pane arrangement. On the first floor, to the left, there are two large sashes and a smaller sash to the right, all with glazing bars in a 4x3 pane configuration, and further right is a larger sash with glazing bars in a 4x4 pane arrangement. The roof features three dormers, each with a pair of casements that have two horizontal glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
