Description
No. 6 Church End is a house that was originally a crosswing to No. 5, dating from the 17th century and refronted in the 18th century. The front is made of colourwashed stucco with incised lines, while the gable above the band course is colourwashed brick. The side and rear are colourwashed and rendered witchert, with some brick also colourwashed. The house has an old tile roof with a gable end facing the road. It is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays. The street front features an early 18th-century barred sash window on the ground floor with thick glazing bars. There is a door on the right with a modern lean-to hood. The first floor has a box-sash window and a segmental-headed plate glass attic window. The side elevation includes a band course and two weathered rubblestone stacks with brick flues, one of which has been reduced to eaves level. Inside, there are chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, and the rear room on the first floor has early 18th-century panelling. The 17th-century roof structure remains intact.
