Description

Hill Cottage is a 17th-century dwelling located on the north side of Dean Road in Newnham. The building features a combination of rendering and some exposed timber framing, with a plain tile roof that has a pentiled back slope. It has a lobby entry opposite an off-centre stack and a simple plan with a plain roof and a small gable on the left side. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has two windows, which are small two-light casements, including one in the gable. The entrance consists of a three-plank door set in a heavy frame. The cottage has a very deep plinth, which may serve as a base for the framing. Hill Cottage is an important part of the group with the adjacent Hall.
