Description

Highbanks Cottage is a 17th-century house located on Old Loose Hill. It features a timber frame that is rendered, topped with a plain tile roof, and has a lobby entry plan. The building stands two storeys high with a garret on a painted stone plinth. The left gable end has plain bargeboards and a moulded pendant. There is a brick ridge stack located to the left of the center and a projecting brick stack on a stone base towards the front of the left gable end. The cottage has irregular fenestration, including two small widely spaced two-light casements on the first floor, two small single-light casements, and one two-light casement on the ground floor. A 12-pane sash window with thick glazing bars is present on the ground floor of the left gable end, along with a boarded door located under the stack. There is a lean-to structure on the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
