Description
These are two attached houses located in Culver Street, Newent, dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and late 20th century. The front of the houses is timber-framed and rendered, with panels set on a random-rubble stone plinth. The side walls are rendered, and the roof is slate.
The houses are two bays wide and arranged in an L-shape. They have a high plinth, with an undoorway leading to a cellar on the right side. The ground floor features straight braces on the main posts to the sill at each end, and a narrow framed section on the left. A two-light casement window is present in the left bay, with a panel-width void to the right. On the first floor, there is a three-light casement to the left and an opening for a window on the right. A top panel was added when the eaves were raised, likely in the 19th century. A brick gable chimney is located on the left, a stump brick chimney is at the front eaves, and a brick gable is present to the right. Timber framing extends to part of the back wall.
