Description
The monument to Elizabeth Webley is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 3 metres south of the tower face of the Church of St Mary and St Peter. This early 18th-century tomb is made of sandstone and features a thick inscribed top with a moulded edge. It has deep quarter balusters and fine cartouches on each inscription face. The tomb also has a deep moulded base and good lettering on the main panels, although much of it was concealed by ivy during the survey in December 1983. The monument commemorates Elizabeth Webley, who passed away in 1728, and was the wife of Walter Webley.
