Description
This is an unidentified altar tomb located in the churchyard about 20 metres south of the east chancel wall of the Church of St Mary and St Peter. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of sandstone. At the time of the survey in December 1983, the tomb was heavily overgrown with ivy, but a stepped top was still visible. The monument is enclosed by a fine cast iron railing with spearhead design, featuring square corner standards topped with urns, though it is now much rusted. This tomb is part of a group of three monuments that step down the slope.
