Description

The monument to James Wade is located in the churchyard about 3.5 metres south of the south window in the chancel of the Church of St Mary. This late 18th-century chest tomb is made of sandstone and features a short design with inset corners. It has a flat top with a moulded edge, simple panels, and a moulded base. An inscription on the south side commemorates James Wade, who died in 1778. At the time of the survey in September 1983, the tomb was partially sunk into the ground.
