10/83 Robinson monument and railing in churchyard about 1.5m south of south-west corner of south porch, Church of St. Ethelbert.

GV II

Pedestal tomb and railing; John Robinson, died 1784; stone and wrought-iron. Monument, square with bowed north and south ends: flat lid with moulded edge; above upstand with beaded edge, sloping up to steep pyramid top; apex acorn in fluted cup. Ends, frieze with leaf decoration: panel below defined by sinking with shaped head and base. Sides have dressed heads,with swags, defining head of panel for lettering. All on a plinth. First inscription commences in italic lettering, ends normal. Lettering blacked in. Railing around forms square enclosure: bars held top and bottom rails, not set into stone; spear heads. Larger corner bars, with shaped tops and bases. Inscriptions up to 1870. One of 3 Robinson memorials forming a group, (q.v.).
