Description
The Robinson monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about 2 meters south of the door to the south porch of the Church of St. Ethelbert. It dates from 1770 and is made of stone. The tomb features a deep, flat lid with a moulded edge, and has fielded panels on the sides and ends, with quarter-square balusters at the corners. Inscriptions are present on the north and south faces, as well as on the lid, commemorating Philip Robinson, who died in 1770. There is some flaking of the stone that affects the side inscriptions. This monument is one of three Robinson memorials that form a group.
