Description

Underhill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century or late 17th century. It is primarily constructed of brick, with some sandstone on the right side of the ground floor, and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is a long, narrow block with a small stair projection at the center of the back. There are stacks located just to the right of the center, on the right gable, and a more recent stack at the back.

The farmhouse stands two and a half storeys tall and has four windows on the ground floor, which includes a two-light casement in a partially blocked opening beneath a four-centred brick arch. Above, on the first floor, there is a blocked opening followed by a four-light casement, both of which are also under four-centred brick arches. Additionally, there is a three-light casement under a segmental arch and a four-light casement with some leading in a single dormer on the left side.

On the left side of the building, there is a six-panel door that leads to a through passage, while a doorway on the far right has been blocked. A three-course string course runs at mid-level. The main roof trusses spring from propped knuckle brackets, measuring approximately 190 mm by 100 mm. Historically, this site was also home to a tanning mill until 1922.
