Description

The building is a mid-19th century dwelling, formerly a public house and now a public library. It is constructed of brick with a concrete tile roof. The central projection features brick pilasters and a flat roof. The two-storey, three-windowed facade has sash windows on the ground floor with large panes set beneath stepped stone voussoirs. A good six-panel door is situated beneath a deep transom light with a fanlight and segmental hood. To the right of the door is a four-panel door also set under a stepped voussoir lintel, which is lower than the window heads. A projecting brick bay has four brick piers with stone caps, and features a new window, deep painted fascia, and a moulded cornice, alongside a small cast iron balcony rail. The upper floor has three sashed windows with bars, also set under stepped voussoirs. The windows are of group value.
