Description

Devonia is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th or early 19th century. The front is rendered brick, while the sides are exposed brick, topped with a slate roof. The building is five windows wide and has an L-shaped plan, standing two storeys tall with attics. It features a plain plinth and projecting quoins at each end.

The front door is located towards the right and has one stone step. It is a four-panel door with the top panels fielded and the bottom panels flush, set within six-panel reveals. Fluted Tuscan pilasters frame the door, which is topped with a frieze and a pediment, adorned with minute dentils below the pediment. To the right of the door is a tripartite sash window, with the centre featuring two-pane sashes, flanked by fluted Tuscan pilasters and divisions, and also topped with minute dentils and a flat head. There is a flat-headed opening to the cellar below the plinth.

To the left of the door, there are two similar windows and a six-panel door, which has a glazed top panel, a fielded centre panel, and a flush bottom panel, all within plain reveals and a moulded surround with a flat head. The first floor consists entirely of two-pane sash windows. The roof features three hipped dormers, with moulded eaves and two-light casements. A gable chimney is located on the right behind the ridge, and a large brick chimney is situated on the ridge between the windows to the left of the front door. The interior has not been inspected.
