Description
Broughtons is a detached house built in the early 19th century. It features rough, white rendered walls and a slate roof. The garden front is four windows wide and two stories high, with two lower two-story wings at the rear. The garden front has sash windows, with the ground floor windows showcasing Gothic tracery in the tops of the upper sashes. The house has wide, boarded box eaves with a lead-lined gutter and a shallow-pitch hipped roof. A main central chimney is positioned forward of the ridge, with small end chimneys, all of which are rendered. There is a 20th-century single-storey extension on the right side. The entrance is located on the left return, featuring a gabled porch slightly left of center, with a half-glazed, flush panelled door and a semi-circular fanlight with intersecting tracery. Above the entrance is a sash window. To the left on the ground floor, there is a lean-to half-glazed late 19th-century passage with eight lights and a tiled roof that overlaps the rear wing. Above this passage is a sash window in the main block, along with a two-light casement in the rear wing.
