Description
This is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 7 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Mary Magdalen. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge, heavy gadrooned quarter balusters, and cartouches on all faces. The moulding of the sunk base is just visible. Part of the inscription reads 'wife of George Geo ... ...76', which may refer to the year 1676, and on the south side, it states 'wife of William Lewis, 1745'. The overall design suggests it is from the early 18th century, although it could possibly be late 17th century.
