Description

Aylesmore Court is a large, detached country house dating from the early 19th century. The house is rendered with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate, featuring deep eaves overhang and an ovolo mould frieze. The front elevation is two storeys high and three windows wide, with broad pilaster divisions over a slight plinth. It features three 16-pane sashes above two plate-glass sashes, and a central door consisting of eight panels with a fanlight, the glazing having been replaced in the early 20th century. On the long return to the left, there is a 12-pane sash above a deep plate-glass sash. At the rear of the building is another 12-pane sash with a cast-iron balcony rail, along with two hexagonal oriels. The interior includes a good circular staircase with stick balusters and an arched sash window, along with various original shutters and doors. Behind the main building, a service court is enclosed by a tall, roughly 6-metre high wall that curves in a segmental shape.
