Description
The monument to William Humphrey is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4.5 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Mary and St Peter. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge, quarter balusters, and two fielded panels on the north and south sides, with elliptical panels on the east and west sides. The base is sunk, and there was some broken stone noted at the time of the survey in December 1983. The earliest legible inscription on the monument is dedicated to William Humphrey and dates from 1742/43.
