Description
The monument to Dorothy Berrow is located in the churchyard about 8 meters north of the north corner of the aisle chapel of St Mary Church. This chest tomb dates from the early 17th century and is made of sandstone. It features a thick incised top with a moulded edge, plain inscription panels, and a moulded base, which is partially sunken as of September 1983. At the east end, there is a crude inscription that reads "DOROTHY BERROW his daughter d 1632," and on the ledger slab, the name "LONGDON" is inscribed with a date in the 17th century. This monument is significant due to its early date and the naive lettering found in some of the remaining inscriptions, suggesting it may have been created at the very beginning of the 17th century.
