Description
Nos. 2 and 3 on Waterloo Lane are former cottages that were originally part of a row of six known as Tinkers' Row, with the other two now called Tinkers' Cottage on Milton Street. These buildings date from the late 18th century, with Tinkers' Cottage specifically dated to 1785. They are constructed from random coursed rubble stone and feature a stone slate roof with brick-raised stone stacks. The structure is a single long range with a central rear lean-to, consisting of one storey and an attic.
The restored exterior includes three small gables positioned together in the center on the east side, each gable featuring paired 6-pane casement windows and a small single 4-pane light on the outer side of each cottage on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light casement window for each cottage, along with a plank door. All openings have timber lintels, except for the front door of No. 3, which has a concrete lintel.
