Description

Tinker's Cottage, located at the northern end of Tinkers Row (now Waterloo Lane) in Fairford, dates to 1785. It was originally two cottages, subsequently converted into a single dwelling fronting onto Milton Street. The building is constructed of random coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof and stone stacks raised in brick. The structure comprises a single long range with a small lean-to at the rear, now facing Milton Street. It is a single-storey building with an attic. The east gable has a small gable with paired six-pane casement windows. The front of the cottage features two three-light casement windows with timber lintels on the ground floor and a blocked doorway. A door is positioned on the north side, within the rear lean-to, accompanied by single-pane windows on either side. The first floor has two paired six-pane casement windows and a four-pane sash window to the left on the ground floor, all with timber lintels.
