Landscape building. Early C18. Limestone ashlar with vermiculated rustication to front, coursed squared limestone to sides and rear; stone slate roof. Small pavilion with distyle Doric portico in antis with flanking screens with clasping pilasters. Opening to centre has surround of pilasters with bands of vermiculated rustication supporting full entablature and open pediment infilled with vermiculated voussoirs and with incised lettering POPE'S SEAT in tympanum; flanking screens have bands of vermiculated rustication and chamfered coping and round-headed niches with keystones; clasping pilasters have similar bands of rustication and ball finials with bands of similar rustication. INTERIOR has roughcast walls and limestone sett floor; round-headed opening to rear. (EH Gardens Register: Gloucester: Grade I: London: 1986-).
