Description
The Horse Guards is a pavilion located in Cirencester Park, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings at the front, while the sides and rear are made of coursed limestone rubble. The pavilion features a stone slate roof and has a single large round-headed opening. This opening is adorned with impost bands and flanked by Ionic pilasters that have unusual fluted volutes. These pilasters support an entablature with a frieze that includes three rosettes and a modillion cornice. The pavilion has a gabled roof at the back, and the interior remains unplastered.
