Description
The Horse Guards is a pavilion located in Cirencester Park, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is built from coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings at the front and coursed limestone rubble on the sides and rear, topped with a stone slate roof. The pavilion features a single large round-headed opening, which is adorned with impost bands and flanked by Ionic pilasters that have unusual fluted volutes. These support an entablature with a frieze decorated with three rosettes and a modillion cornice. Behind the main structure is a gabled roof. The interior remains unplastered.
