Description

This is an unidentified memorial located about 11 metres east of the porch level with the outer entrance in the churchyard of the Church of St. Nicholas. It is an altar tomb from the late 18th century, with the earliest decipherable date being 1787. The memorial is made of limestone and features a rectangular, moulded plinth on a base, with a tall central structure. It has a moulded capping that supports a large rectangular slab, which is flanked by separate moulded side pieces to the east and west. The tomb is topped with a gadrooned rectangular finial. There are oval panels on the east and west sides, each adorned with rosettes in the spandrels. The north and south sides have fielded rectangular panels with carved moulding. At the time of the survey in August 1984, the inscriptions were indecipherable and partially overgrown.
