II
Large detached country house. Late C17, considerably altered in C18 and enlarged on east in early C19 and given Classical symmetry. Coursed and dressed rubble stone with quoins, hipped Cotswold stone slate roof with parapet on all 4 sides, scattered stone stacks. Large square range. 2 storeys and attic. East front - 7 windows, plate glass sashes with raised hood moulds and angled chamfer to lintel forming shallow triangle from horizontal. Doric porch of 4 columns on bases with cornice and blocking course. Central ½ glazed door in decorative surround of X pattern with flanking pilasters and 2 smaller plate glass sashes. Remaining ground floor windows as first floor but no hood moulds. 2 former windows on east, south and west sides. West front has large gable to right with small oval panel, two 2-light stone mullion windows on first floor and one 6-light on ground floor. 2 blocked windows to left. Decorative rain water heads in lead. Interior not inspected. (VCH, Gloucestershire, Volume XI, 1976.)
