Description
Tellisford House is a country house built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from squared and coursed rubble Doulting stone, featuring an ashlar plinth, quoins, a string course at the first floor level, and a coved cornice. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, incorporating quarter-hipped dormers that have two lights and four panes, topped with iron finials. The house has ashlar Doulting stone stacks with diagonally set flues, although two chimneys have been rebuilt in brick.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with the main entrance located on the north side. The south front features a central octagonal projecting section beneath a hipped roof, with stone-mullioned windows arranged in a pattern of three, four, and three lights. The central projecting bay on the ground floor includes 20-pane sash windows with glazing bars at the margins, topped with 'Y'-tracery, while the first floor has similar 12-pane sash windows, all with dripmoulds.
To the left of the main section is a two-storey wing that features a stone oriel window on the first floor, flanked by stone-framed windows with eight panes and 'Y'-tracery on the ground floor. Beyond this wing, there is an ashlar stone plinth supporting a four-bay octagonal-ended conservatory, which has six pairs of top-hung iron windows in moulded timber frames and an iron windvane. Additionally, there is a stone Ha-Ha boundary wall located 20 meters to the south, extending approximately 80 meters across the full width of the house.
