Description
Crabb Hall is a detached house built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed rough cut Doulting stone, featuring alternating course thicknesses. The ground floor has chamfered quoins, a plinth with a rounded top, a moulded string course at the first floor level, and a moulded eaves-cornice. The roof, added in the 19th century, is slate and has an ashlar stone chimney stack with a moulded cap on the east gable. The building has an "L" plan and consists of two storeys plus a basement.
The front has five windows and a central entrance. The timber casement windows have glazing bars and consist of 12 panes set in bead-moulded stone frames. The window above the entrance features a 4-centred arched head with imposts and a keystone. The entrance door has six panels, two of which are glazed, and is fitted with a complete set of brass furniture. It is set within a stone architrave topped with a broken pediment supported by brackets that enclose a stone urn.
At the rear, there is a wing made of rubble stone with a roof covered in double Roman clay tiles. This wing has coped gables with finials and 19th-century windows. Access to the raised entrance terrace is provided by a flight of basalt stone steps and basalt stone flags.
