Description

This is a very large barn, dating to the late 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with quoins, and has a roof of Cotswold stone slates. The barn is L-shaped, with two opposed cart entries projecting on the east side, separated by a lean-to section. The cart entry to the right of the two-storey section has a gable containing ledge holes suggesting a former dovecote. The west entrance is single-storey with a lean-to roof. The cart entry to the left is of single storey and has a hipped gable, now blocked on the west side. Both east entrances have double doors. A further entrance is located on the left, reached by a raised pathway, and there is a double-doored entrance on the south side at street level, where the barn is built into the rising land. Vent holes are present on the west and north walls. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of considerable interest.
