Description
27 London Street is a house located at the end of a row, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone and has asbestos cement slates on the roof, with truncated end stacks. The building is a single range of two storeys and an attic, featuring two windows on the first floor that are 16-pane sashes with timber lintels. There are two gabled dormers with 6-pane sashes set through the eaves. A plat band runs above the ground floor.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a slightly cambered voussoir arch with a keystone that connects to the plat band, leading to a 20th-century door. To the right, there is an early 19th-century stone doorcase with a shallow open pediment and narrow pilasters, which includes a plain fanlight with original painted signwriting that reads "BOOTMAKER/REPAIRS," and a door made up of six flush panels, accessed by one stone step. Between these features, there is a large 20th-century inserted bow window with a timber lintel.
