Description
The White Cottage is a semi-detached house built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features rubble stone construction on an ashlar plinth, with a plat band and a blocking course at the eaves. The roof is slate, with a central stone ridge stack and a rear brick lateral stack. The house has a single front range, a rear catslide, and a long single-storey rear wing that is not of special interest. It stands two storeys tall with an attic in the gable end.
The front has three windows, which were originally 12-pane sashes with timber lintels. However, the left window on both floors has been replaced by a two-storey late 19th-century canted bay, which has an ashlar base and incised render above, featuring three plate glass sashes. The ground floor includes a 16-pane sash window to the right and a recessed central door with four recessed panels and a margin-glazed plain fanlight, accessed by two stone steps.
