Description

GREAT RISSINGTON GREAT RISSINGTON VILLAGE SP 1917-2017 9/145 Barn c40m south-east of Manor Farmhouse GV II Barn. Mid-late C18. Limestone and sandstone rubble; corrugated asbestos roof. Long rectangular plan. Central projecting porch off-centre right on the west side. Lean-tos with corrugated iron roofs on the east side, not of special interest. Single width doorway (now blocked) far left. Double-width opening in wall opposite projecting porch with a raking roof. Single-width doorway far right. Similar doorway opposite. Interior; 8 bays with 4 original pegged roof trusses with collar and tie-beams, the former are in the form of inverted V's. All principal rafters original, with halved apexes. Carpenter's marks. Double butt purlins.
