Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built on the site of Kempsford Manor. The rear section likely dates from the late 16th century and was extended and remodelled in 1846 by Sir Gilbert East. The building features random coursed or coursed rubble stone with slate roofs. The main section has two large stacks with diagonally set ashlar flues that have moulded cornices, with two on the south range and four on the north range.
The farmhouse consists of two parallel gabled ranges that are two storeys high with an attic, along with an older rear cross-wing that is also two storeys and projects further to the south-east. Both the back and front of the older wing have moulded depressed stone archways with stops, as well as an adjacent three-light ovolo moulded stone mullion and transom window. The main front from 1846 features two gables with coped verges and finials, each containing a two-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould. The first floor has three windows with 4/2/4-light stone mullions and transoms, also with square hoodmoulds. The ground floor includes four lights flanking a central projecting gabled porch, which has a coped verge and finial. The interior is not accessible.
