Description
Malt Cottage and Malt House are two houses built at the same time, located at the end of a row in Northleach with West End. They date from the 17th century and were refaced in the 18th to early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with an ashlar facade on part of the main body and a stone slate roof. There are two former ashlar stacks that have been repaired in brick, along with a brick stack. The lean-to extension at the rear has concrete tiles and slate roofing.
The main body is two stories high with a three-windowed facade. It features twelve-pane sash windows with keystones and one four-pane sash window. Both houses have fielded six-panel doors with keystones, and the upper two panels of the door to Malt House are glazed. There is a boot scraper to the left of the door to Malt House. To the left, there is a single-storey extension with a 19th-century plank door and a two-light wood casement window with a timber lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
