Description

The Gable Cottage is a 17th-century house located in a row of buildings in Northleach with West End. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with a rectangular plan. The cottage has one and a half storeys and a two-bay front. The left gable is illuminated by a two-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars, while the ground floor has a three-light casement window. To the right is a 19th-century plank door, and above it is a small single-light window with a horizontal glazing bar. The three-light casement window has leaded panes, and both the two-light and three-light casements have timber lintels. This house is significant as it represents the last remaining example of what much of the south side of the street would have looked like in the 17th century.
