Description

The Wheatsheaf Hotel is an early 19th-century hotel situated at the end of a row. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a thin stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. The building is arranged in an 'L' shape. Rear lean-to extensions with red tile roofs are not considered to be of particular architectural significance. The two-storey facade has a five-window arrangement, with windows containing 12 and 16 panes of glass, set within sash frames. An off-centre right entrance features a three-panelled door within a round-headed surround, a fanlight, and decorated consoles. A projecting 20th-century flat stone canopy, supported by moulded brackets, covers the entrance. A 20th-century canted bay window has been added to the left of the door. Axial and gable end stacks are present. The interior has not been inspected.
