Description
BATSFORD BATSFORD VILLAGE SP 13 SE 4/11 Selwyn House, Batsford Estate GV II Estate House. Late C19. By Sir Ernest George and Peto for Lord Redesdale. Ashlar with concrete tile roof and limestone gable coping. Ashlar and artificial stone chimneys. Rectangular main body with projecting central porch. Two successive extensions onto left gable end. 2 storeys. Main body 1:1:1-windowed with central gabled 2-storey porch. Window far right now blocked. 2-light stone-mullioned casements mostly with glazing bars. First floor porch window: 3-light fixed casement. Stilted arched entrance with stopped hood below. Part glazed plank door within with fanlight over. Successive extensions left, one-windowed. 2- light wood casement over single plank door far left. 2-light stone-mullioned casements otherwise. Flat coping. 2 gable end and one axial stack. Interior not inspected. One of a group of similar buildings occupying a prominent position adjacent to Church of St. Mary, (q.v.).
