Description

The stable block, located approximately 15 meters east of the barn at Manor Farmhouse in Great Rissington, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed stone quoins. The front has a corrugated felt roof, while the rear is covered with concrete tiles. The building has a rectangular plan and includes a lean-to at the back with a corrugated iron roof, which is not considered of special interest.

The stable block is two stories high and has three two-light cambered-headed windows, two of which have elongated keystones. A central plank door is set within a cambered-headed surround that also has a keystone. To the left of this door, there are stone steps leading to a loft door. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements. A pitching door, which has since been removed, is located within a cambered-headed surround on the left gable end. Above this, there is a triangular arrangement of pigeon holes and landings. Additionally, ventilation or owl holes are present towards the apexes of both gable ends. The first floor has been removed from the interior.
