Description

Baker's Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a private detached house. It features coursed rubble stone construction with large flush quoins on the main section, a stone slate roof, and a tall ashlar end stack on the left with an offset and moulded cornice. There is also a large partly rendered stone ridge stack on the rear wing. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a single front range of two storeys and an attic, alongside a long single-storey rear wing with an attic and a large catslide lean-to against the main range.

The front, facing southwest, has a three-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould on the left and a two-light window on the right. The ground floor features a two-light window to the right and large 20th-century glazed double doors to the left, which also have a new square hoodmould. The left-hand return has two single stone-framed lights at the rear, providing light to the surviving wooden newel stair. The right-hand return of the main range includes a two-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould on both the attic and first floor. The long rear wing has three small gabled dormers with paired casements, along with scattered door and window openings on the ground floor, all featuring timber lintels. The north end of this wing has a projecting semi-circular bread oven, and there is one two-light stone mullion window at the rear of the house above the lean-to. Inside, there is a large timber bressumer fireplace beneath the end stone stack and the rear ridge stack, along with large unchamfered beams in the main room across the ground floor of the main range.
