Description
Orchard House is a detached house that was formerly a farmhouse, likely built in the late 17th century and later refronted in the late 18th or early 19th century. The building is constructed of random coursed rubble stone and features a stone slate roof, with a tile roof on the rear lean-to. There is a stone stack at the south end and a rear lateral brick flue on the stone stack.
The house has a single front range with two storeys and an attic, along with a small single-storey rear wing to the north that also has an attic and a lean-to in the rear angle. The front of the house includes three windows, which are 3/2/3-light wood casements with cambered stone voussoir heads. There is a similar 3-light window on the left side of the ground floor, with double doors inserted to the right and a recessed central half-glazed door.
On the north gable end, there is a 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion with a square hoodmould on both the ground floor and attic. The rear wing has some renewed concrete lintels on the north side and a 2-light casement with a timber lintel on the east end.
