Description
No 16 on Thames Street is a former pair of cottages that has been converted into a single cottage. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with small brick stacks. It has two small ranges that are positioned at right angles to the street, with an alley between them on the ground floor, and they are linked on the first floor. The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows, each consisting of 2-light arched wooden casements with 6-pane lights and timber lintels. The ground floor includes two larger windows, with a central wooden frame that has a timber lintel and an iron gate leading to the alley. On the far left, there is a 20th-century door to No 16, which has a cambered brick arch. Access to the range on the right side of the alleyway is now from the building located at the corner of High Street and Thames Street, known as No 8, which is part of Serendipity.
