Description
Nos 5 and 6 are a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century. They are built from coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and feature a stone slate roof with three stone stacks—one at the ridge and two at the ends. The cottages are arranged in a single range with a rear outshut that forms a catslide roof, and they are two storeys tall.
There are four windows, which consist of paired wooden casements set in plain reveals, complete with timber lintels and flush quoins. On the ground floor, each cottage has a three-light wooden casement on the outer side, while originally, each had a two-light window on the inner side and a central front door. No 6 still retains its central front door, which is made of plain boards. In contrast, No 5 has relocated its door to the left and now features a 20th-century half-glazed door. The cottages are included for their group value.
