Description
Nos 7 and 8 on the A433 in Barnsley Village are a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century. They are built from coursed rubble stone and feature alternating flush quoins, with a stone slate roof and two end stone stacks. The cottages form a single range with a rear outshut that creates a catslide roof, and they stand two storeys tall.
There are four windows, which consist of paired wooden casements set in plain reveals, complete with timber lintels and flush quoins. On the ground floor, each cottage has a three-light wooden casement on the outer side and a two-light casement in the centre. The doors have been relocated to the inner side and are both plain boarded with a small single light. These cottages are included for their group value.
