Description

The Shephard family monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, approximately 20 meters northeast of the chancel. This early 19th-century monument is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth. On the south side, there is a fielded inscription panel dedicated to Thomas Shephard, who died in 1804. The north side has an eroded fielded inscription panel flanked by fluted columns. An inscription to Thomas Shephard is also present at the west end. The inscriptions at both ends are surrounded by incised oval margins, and the tomb is capped with a moulded margin and a moulded hipped upper capping stone.
