Description

This is a 17th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, approximately 4.5 meters south of the south aisle. The tomb is made of limestone and has a rectangular shape with carved ends and a moulded plinth.

On the north and south sides, there are oval inscription plaques. The north side features a pair of eroded heads or skulls above the inscription plaque, along with open bibles depicted in the upper right and left corners. The area around the plaque is decorated with deeply carved foliate and scrollwork.

The south side also has deeply carved scrollwork surrounding its inscription plaque, with winged cherubs' heads positioned in the upper right and left corners. At the ends of the tomb, there are cartouche-like plaques, and above these, additional winged cherubs' heads can be found. Standing figures of cherubs are present on either side, with those at the west end holding open bibles, while skulls rest at the feet of the cherubs at the east end. Drapes with ribbon ties are located at the top on either side of the standing cherubs. The tomb is capped with a thick moulded margin featuring tassel-like carvings at each corner and rosettes at each end. This monument is noted for its unusual ornate and finely carved details.
