Description
Hollyhock Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the early 18th century, with a gable end facing the street. It was enlarged to the left in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone and features a stone slate roof. Originally, it had stone end stacks, but the left stack has been converted to a ridge stack, with an additional stack on the extension. The cottage is a single range, two storeys high with an attic, and was originally two windows wide with a central entrance. The original section has two 2-light stone mullions on each floor and a blocked original entrance. There are two 20th-century gabled dormers with 2-light windows. The extension to the left includes a small gable that extends through the eaves and a large projecting gabled porch. Inside, the original ground floor rooms still feature rustic chamfered beams, and a timber newel stair remains around the former left end stack.
