Description

A row of three cottages dating from the 18th century. They are built of coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof, featuring a stone ridge stack raised in brick on number 2. The cottages have a single front range with varying rear extensions, mostly two storeys high, with an attic to number 2. Number 2 has two windows with four-pane sashes and timber lintels, a gabled dormer with a stone slate-hung gable and paired casements, a two-light stone mullion to the right on the ground floor, and a six-panel door recessed to the left, with the top two panels glazed and the rest fielded, under a timber lintel. Number 3 has two two-light wood mullion and transoms, one with a segmental voussoir arch on the ground floor, a four-panel door to the right with recessed panels and a plain fanlight, and a passageway to the far right with a board door and timber lintel. Number 4 has a 19th-century four-light stone mullion with a square hoodmould to each floor, a 20th-century two-light window to the left on the first floor, and a half-glazed door below. While altered, the row of cottages is notable for its group value alongside The Old Tracey.
