Description

The Iddels Monument is a chest tomb located about 4 metres northeast of the porch in the churchyard of the Church of St. Arild in Didmarton, Oldbury on the Hill. It dates from 1714 and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping, and has lyre-shaped ends adorned with low relief acanthus returns and cartouche ends. The sides of the tomb include a central raised rectangular inscription panel, flanked by strips with an interlocking circle design. At the time of the survey in February 1986, the monument was partially overgrown.
