Description
The sundial base in the stable courtyard at Rendcomb College dates from the mid-1860s and is made of limestone. It features a highly ornate carved design resembling an ice-cream cone, with three swans positioned at the base, which is adorned with bullrushes. Above this, there is a band of lilies and water lilies. The upper part of the sundial base showcases a large open water lily, which has a raised circular base at its center. On this base stands a brass sundial, made by the Pilkington Company of Preston, which is accurate to the minute.
