Description
Post Office Farm is a former farmhouse that was once used as a post office. It dates from the 17th century, with minor extensions likely added in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof, with a stack that was restored in the 20th century and has dressed stone quoins. The main structure is rectangular, with a projection for the stairs and a possible former chimney projection on the north side, where 20th-century extensions have been inserted. There are 18th and 19th-century extensions on the west gable end.
The main body of the farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, along with one-and-a-half and single-storey extensions. On the north front, there is a gabled two-and-a-half storey stairs projection located off-centre to the left, and a similar gabled projection on the far right. The main body features small 20th-century single-light and two-light casements with glazing bars. The right extension has large three-light wooden casements, and there is a two-light hipped roof dormer on the upper floor.
The south front includes a gablet at the upper right, with two large three-light casements on the ground floor, one two-light and two three-light casements on the first floor, and a two-light casement in the gablet. All casements in the main body have horizontal glazing bars, and there is a blocked doorway on the lower left. The successive extensions to the left gable end have two and three-light 20th-century casements with glazing bars, along with a single two-light hipped roof dormer. A gable-end stack is also present.
Inside, the farmhouse features beams with deep flat chamfers and run-out stops, as well as a stone spiral staircase located within the stairs projection.
